What is MindWiki?

MindWiki is the shared brain between you and your AI. It's a markdown vault that lives natively on your Mac and on the web, syncs everywhere, and exposes itself to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, or any MCP-aware AI client through a single connection.

You write, link, and capture as you would in any markdown editor. Your AI tools then read, search, ask, and propose changes against the same vault — so every conversation starts with full context instead of from zero.

What you actually get

  • A vault you own. Plain markdown files with YAML frontmatter and [[wikilinks]]. No proprietary format, no lock-in, full export at any time.
  • A native macOS app. Editor, command palette, slash commands, knowledge graph, properties inspector, agents workspace, full keyboard navigation, drag-and-drop attachments, offline-first.
  • A web app. Sign in at mindwiki.io, work in your vault from any browser, capture from anywhere, manage AI connections and API keys.
  • Live sync. Edits made on your Mac show up in the web app within seconds and vice versa. Optimistic concurrency with conflict files instead of silent overwrites.
  • An AI connection layer. A single MCP endpoint that any modern AI client can connect to. OAuth-first for Claude, ChatGPT, and Claude Desktop. Personal API keys for everything else.
  • A capture inbox. A dedicated capture/ folder, a personal {username}@mindwiki.io email address, the web Quick Capture, and the mindwiki_capture MCP tool — all routing into the same place.
  • An agents workspace. See which AI clients are connected, which tool calls they made, what they wrote, and any pending change proposals — all in one panel.

Who it's for

People who think across domains and want their notes to compound rather than scatter — founders, researchers, writers, engineers, builders. If you've ever wanted your AI to know what you know without re-explaining context every conversation, this is the connective tissue.

What it isn't

  • Not a plugin. MindWiki is a standalone product. It does not require any other note app to function.
  • Not a managed organizer. MindWiki does not move your notes around behind your back. AI changes happen through proposals you can review, or through edits you ask your AI to make. You're always in control.
  • Not a closed system. Your vault is plain files. Export anytime. Walk away whenever you want. We made the format unambiguously yours on purpose.
